Last Monday, Coronado played at home against El Capitan High School in a qualifying match for the CIF tournament. This match took place at Coronado’s home course, giving them the advantage. Crista Izuzquiza was the top performer with a score of 38 strokes, who was followed by Lauren White and freshman Annie Holland, who both shot 48 strokes. Along with Samantha Lorr, “the freshmen this year have shown outstanding performance,” comments Coach Gordon. “We have spent considerable time on chipping and putting.” The final score determined a win for Coronado, 237-253.

This meant that for the first time in recent golf history at CHS, the girls’ team has qualified for CIFs in Division II. We wish them luck next week, as they go on to play at Admiral Baker Golf Course.
