CHS Girls’ Golf Plays in City Tournament Last Week

Last week, Coronado girls golf lost a close match to Our Lady of Peace with a close loss of 220-212. The team also participated in the City Tournament at Balboa Golf Course, competing against other schools in the county.

Unlike a typical high school golf match, players in the City Tournament play a total of eighteen holes, instead of nine. This was played last Monday, where Coronado placed 3rd out of 11 schools in the tournament. Crista Izuzquiza was the top performer for Coronado, having a total of 81 strokes in the eighteen holes. This made her eligible to play in the second part of the tournament on Tuesday. Sophia Matthews followed Crista with a score of 85 strokes, although she was not able to advance. The team’s total score, collectively, was 454 strokes.

Being in the top sixteen of all players in the tournament, Crista went into match play on Tuesday. Unfortunately, she lost in the first round against her opponents.

Next Match:

Tuesday, October 24 vs. Mission Vista/El Capitan High School (Determining Match for CIF Eligibility)
