Dance, Sea and Sports Camps

dance classThis summer Coronado Recreation is offering ten different specialty dance camps! In the “Cheer and Dance Camp” participants learn the cheers, chants, stunts and dances that are sure to get any crowd on their feet. These skills open doors at cheerleading team tryouts! If dancing to your favorite songs is more your child’s style, join one of the “Hip Hop Camps.” There, dancers learn the newest dance steps. The “So You Think You Can Dance Camp” is for the dancer who wants to learn the dance styles from the hit television show. At the end of each dance camp week, participants perform routines for their family and friends. All the dance camps are being held at the Coronado Community Center.

Coronado Recreation is also offering seven different Sports and Sea Camps! For the youngest junior athletes there is “Jr Sports Camp” offered different weeks in Cays Park. This is an opportunity for 4-6 year olds to play basketball, soccer, flag football, baseball, and more. There are three weeks of “Basketball Camp” and two weeks of “Volleyball Camp” where dribblers and spikers can work to increase their skills in the community center gym. “Jump Rope Camp” is the place to get hearts pumping as participants learn how to double dutch, traveler and long rope jump. For lots of wild fun in the gym try out one of the three “Xtreme Dodgeball Camps.” There, the games are played on a court filled with inflatable obstacles so there is lots of hiding, dodging, ducking and all around fun. “Individual Sports Camp” starts with daily professional golf and tennis lessons then finishes up with an afternoon of boogie boarding at the beach. If your child wants to be out on the water all day, there are sailing, kayaking and outrigger canoeing lessons at the Crown Cove Aquatics Center, as part of the recreation department’s five weeks of “Sea Camp.”
