The Ultimate Guide to Parking in Coronado

Navigating any new destination can be challenging. Especially as you try to figure out where to park. Don’t worry. We’ve got you covered!

We want to make your entire Coronado experience as enjoyable as possible. This includes learning the shortcuts to parking on the island.

So, on that note, here’s the ultimate guide to parking in Coronado.

Free Parking

Near the Beach

Most travelers head straight to the beach first. There is free parking along Ocean Boulevard, which puts you next to the Coronado Central beach. This fills quickly, especially during the summer.

If you find the parking to be full already, we recommend scouting out the residential areas. Residential parking is allowed on the majority of streets in Coronado. This also eliminates the need to move the car every two hours, needed when you park on Orange Ave.

Near Orange Avenue

Parking on Orange Avenue is metered. If you’re short quarters, the best option is to explore the residential area again. The lettered streets will most likely be your best bet. Oftentimes, you will find free parking 1-2 blocks away from Orange Avenue. This is north of 10th Avenue, West of D Street and East of C Street. Be mindful of churches and schools as they often have specific parking regulations. Any rules should be made clear by signs.

If you head farther south toward the strand, you can find free street parking along Silver Strand Blvd. The free parking starts passed Avenida Del Sol.

When Meters are Free: Unless otherwise noted, metered parking is free each Sunday and on holidays.

RV Note: If you have an RV less than 24 ft. in length, you are able to park on the residential streets for no more than 72 hours. That being said, you cannot use the RV as a residence during that time.

Paid Parking

Orange Avenue

Either side of Orange Avenue has metered parking. The cost is 25¢ per hour. Both the Walgreens and Vons on Orange Avenue provide paid parking options as well.

Ferry Landing

If you’re headed to the Ferry Landing, they have a paid parking option at the entrance to LOT 3. The first 15 minutes are completely free, extended to an hour free with validation. The second hour is $1, with a $1 charge every 15 minutes following that. The day rate is $30.
