Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band to Rock the Hotel del Coronado in Honor of Flag Day

On Sunday, June 14th, the Hotel del Coronado welcomes a very special guest, and this time, it’s not a secret. Gary Sinise and his 12-member Lt. Dan Band will perform on the beach for a first-ever Flag Day BBQ and Concert. Guests of the event will enjoy delicious food and drink (available for purchase) from the hotel’s culinary team and a DJ starting at 11 a.m. before the main event takes place from 5-7 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Gary Sinise Foundation, which seeks to honor defenders, veterans and first responders, their families and those in need.

The Del’s North Beach area will open at 11 a.m. for guests to mingle and enjoy a variety of beach favorites from the culinary team including clambake style seafood options, burgers, Little Del BBQ, gourmet sides and even kid-friendly offerings. Drink stations will serve a full bar ranging from cold beer to classic Del cocktails. Beach chairs will also be available for rent (guests can also bring their own) to offer a true toes-in-the-sand concert experience.

This is the first year both the Hotel del and the Gary Sinise Foundation have hosted a Flag Day event. It’s a perfect fit for both parties, and offers the community a chance to come together and celebrate its strong connection with the military.

“Coronado has such strong military roots, and with the Del’s scenic atmosphere and beach setting, it’s a great location to do something really special for our military,” said Sara Baumann, Public Relations Manager for the Hotel del Coronado.

“I’ve been coming to the Hotel del for many, many years, and have been bringing my family down from the Los Angeles area since they were kids. I’ve always loved going. At the Hotel del I can sit on the balcony and watch the jets, helicopters and military training that goes on right off the beach,” said Gary Sinise. “I’m privileged to be coming there on Flag Day to show our support for the military community there and to benefit from the Hotel Del’s graciousness in supporting the Gary Sinise Foundation in our efforts to support those who serve.”

Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band will take the stage at 5 p.m. and perform cover hits from musicians such as Stevie Wonder, Kelly Clarkson, Adele and the Zac Brown Band. Wounded Warriors who are guests of the Gary Sinise Foundation will be seated in the front.

For more than a decade, Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band have been traveling the world to support America’s troops and work to raise awareness for the military and first responder causes worldwide.

According to the Gary Sinise Foundation website, “being able to serve our country in some way, and to honor the members of our military and the families who sacrifice so much is one of our rewarding efforts. Just seeing the results of giving back, and service before self is a great thing for the spirit. I believe in service beyond one’s self and have founded a foundation in order to have an entity where I could channel those efforts into making a difference for the men and women who defend our great country. Just knowing that we are making a difference, even though we can’t help them all at once, is a great reward.”

At sunset, the event will conclude with parachutists from Skydiving Innovations, a San Diego-based aerial entertainment company.

In conjunction with the event, from June 12-14, participating Shops at the Del will offer a 10% military discount. Coronado locals and Members will also be invited to donated their regular 10% discount to the Gary Sinise Foundation.

Tickets are now on sale for $75 ($35 for military; please call to book) and proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to the Gary Sinise Foundation. Nearly 1,000 attendees are expected at this year’s event and approximately 700 tickets have already been sold. Parking is not included in the ticket price and will be limited, guests are encouraged to walk or bike to the event, if possible. Coronado’s free summer shuttle will also be available.

The Gary Sinise Foundation creates and supports unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities. In addition to the Lt. Dan Band, the Gary Sinise Foundation serves the military and first responder communities through R.I.S.E., Relief and Resiliency Outreach, Invincible Spirit Festival, Ambassadors Council, Arts & Entertainment Outreach and First Responders Outreach.
