CHS Senior Standout: Courtney Cunnigham

Due to her little brother’s severe respiratory ailments and declining health, senior Courtney Cunningham’s family moved from dusty Arizona to Coronado.

Courtney’s experience at Coronado High School was the complete opposite of the all-girls school she previously attended. Courtney says he has met some of the most intelligent, humble, and genuinely real people and she believes this is strongly due to the sea air and positive environment. Courtney has had the chance to expand her thinking and learn what it takes to be successful. Her favorite moment at CHS was becoming friends with the security guard Forest. Her favorite teacher is math teacher, Ms. Mcgreevy, because she never underestimates her students, and she is constantly encouraging them to do their best. Courtney’s favorite class was AP Psychology with Mrs. Chrisman; “I enjoyed it so much I hope to continue studying it in college.”

Courtney will be attending The University of Arizona. She chose U of A because she is very close with her grandparents and being in Tucson is familiar and central to her family. The school also has everything she desires in a school: sorority life, school spirit, and a great journalism program. Courtney plans on majoring in psychology and journalism. Ten years from now she sees herself happily married with her second child. She also sees her self-owning a company with her sister and hopefully having written and published a book.

One thing many people don’t know about Courtney is that this year she has really become intrigued with psychology. “I carry around questions I have about the world and when I think of a question that no one can answer I write it down. Sometimes I ask people these questions to see how they perceive the world.”
