A new reward program called Walk Your Wheels is being introduced this summer to encourage people to walk their bike and/or skateboard in the downtown. Summer is especially busy on the sidewalks with residents, visitors, diners and shoppers enjoying our perfect weather and vibrant business district. For the safety of all and as a reminder, the sidewalks in the business districts are dedicated to pedestrians only.
Coronado Police Senior Volunteers will be strolling the sidewalks looking for pedestrians who are walking their bikes or skateboards, and thanking them for their safe behavior. As an added incentive, people who “Walk Their Wheels” will be receive tokens which will include special discounts, free passes and/or a free entry into drawings. Doing the right thing has just become more profitable!
Partners in this effort are the City of Coronado, the Bicycle Advisory Committee, the Coronado Police Department, the Coronado Recreation Department, Downtown Merchants and Coronado MainStreet. For more information, please contact Coronado MainStreet at (619) 437-0254.
