Celebrating 100 Years on Orange Avenue

COME BY AND CELEBRATE WITH US!

On Friday, June 17, 2011 from 2 to 4 pm, the Coronado Historical Association invites residents and visitors to help celebrate the 100th birthday of their beautiful Neo-classical building at 1100 Orange Avenue, with old-time music and refreshments provided by the Association. The building opened as the Bank of Commerce & Trust on June 17, 1911.

The Bank of Commerce & Trust eventually merged with the Bank of Italy and then the Bank of America, which operated in this location until 1963.

At that time, the Palumbos of Coronado bought the property and created Marco’s Restaurant, which remained in place until 1999, when it was sold to Don and Leslie Budinger, Arizona residents, who are the present owners. The Budingers have entered into a very generous lease-gift arrangement with the CHA for a 30-year period, after which the Association will receive the building as an outright gift.

Refreshments will be served in the Lecture Hall of the Coronado Museum of History & Art at 1100 Orange Avenue.
