eCoronado.com received a few emails this morning about a police helicopter near the base entrance searching for ‘something” last night / early this morning.
We have learned that there was a burglary suspect on the roof of the Navy Exchange on North Island last night.
The DODPD contacted the Coronado Police Department shortly after 11pm last night to request assistance with the situation. The helicopter was brought in from the San Diego Police Department and the K9 Unit from National City.
A perimeter was set up South of First, North of Palm, West of J and East of Alameda. The suspect avoided apprehension and is believed to have fled on foot.
