San Diego’s much-debated plan to fully fluoridate the city’s water supplies will be delayed by about a month, officials announced Tuesday.
Fluoridation was supposed to start Wednesday, but Utilities Department spokesman Arian Collins said “a few issues” were identified during a safety inspection that will push back the start date. The decision also affects water service in Coronado, Del Mar and Imperial Beach, which are connected to San Diego’s supply lines.
“We’re now looking at beginning water fluoridation sometime in mid- to late-January,” Collins said.
