Coronado: 4 Hurt in Crash That Ends Police Chase

Three burglary suspects were taken into custody Monday after leading police on a chase from Imperial Beach to Coronado’s Silver Strand.

Police said the three men took unspecified items from an Imperial Beach home.

After police located their green Hyundai sedan, the suspects refused to stop and led police on a 2-mile chase at speeds of over 65 miles per hour.

The Hyundai was traveling north on Silver Strand Boulevard when the driver attempted a U-Turn and hit a pickup truck.

Lt. Ken Stewart of the San Diego Police Department said one suspect was arrested in the car, and another nearby. The third suspect, who suffered fled, however, climbed a fence and ran into the Naval Amphibious Base, where was trapped in a building. The man gave up just as canine units, arrived, and he was arrested a little after 1 p.m.
