This year marks the 30th anniversary season of Humphreys Concerts by the Bay and suffice it to say, the summer outdoor concert series has established itself as a true San Diego institution. The recently announced 2011 lineup features 50 evenings of entertainment with more shows added throughout the season. Humphrey’s kicks things off on May 3 with James Blunt and concludes on October 25 with Celtic Thunder. As always, Humphreys will dish out a typically broad array of rock ‘n roll, blues, R&B and comedy. There are several newcomers to the picturesque Shelter Island bayside setting with 17 of the 50 artists making their Humphreys Concerts debut.
Lots of familiar faces are returning this year including Lyle Lovett (June 7), Chris Isaak (July 18), Los Lonely Boys and Los Lobos (July 31), Dave Koz (Aug. 12), B.B. King (Aug. 15), Diana Ross (Sept. 15), Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs (Sept. 26). Other artists scheduled include Chris Cornell (May 6), Adele (June 8), Jennifer Hudson (June 19), Matthew Morrison (July 20), Steve Martin (Aug. 17), Tears for Fears (Sept. 12).
