In an effort to reduce green house emissions, City officials have
approved a measure to replace all gasoline powered vehicles with
electric golf carts.
Starting May 1, 2012, cars and motorcycles crossing the bridge from
San Diego will be stopped at the toll booth to be parked for your time
spent on Coronado. Most people will be required to walk to their
destination, with the exception of those who are disabled, who will be
shuttled by golf carts provided by the Coronado Golf Course.
Coronado residents are required to retrieve their Coronado golf course
golf carts starting April 25, 2012, limited to one per household. You
will be required to keep your car in your garage if you haven’t sold
them before the above date.
There is a garage being constructed just across the bridge in San
Diego – the plan is to complete the structure by April 24, 2012 so
that Coronado residents may house their vehicles – the garage will
hold approximately 600 vehicles. Each family will be allotted one car
space. A lottery will be held for the remaining spaces.
Those who work across the bridge will have to use the ferry to reach
their destinations. Please be advised that there will be delays due to
increased volumes on the ferries and you should plan on leaving
earlier than usual.
In order to save electricity, a town hall meeting to answer questions will be held on the beach in
front of the Hotel Del on April 15, 2012.
Happy golf-carting!!
