Movies on the Bay series returns to Tidelands Park with “Monsters, Inc”

Join the Coronado Recreation Department on a computer animated fantasy journey as they present “Monsters, Inc” for Coronado 125’s Movies on the Bay Series on Friday, August 14th.

“Monsters, Inc” will come alive outdoors in Tidelands Park on the big screen (at 2000 Mullinex Drive). Prescreen family activities including crafts, face painting and games start at 6:30pm with the film beginning once it is dark at 8:00pm.

Spend the evening with James P. “Sulley” Sullivan and his one-eyed partner and best friend Mike Wazowski as they work to be the top scare team at Monsters, Inc, the scream-processing factory in Monstropolis. Then watch as their world is turned upside down when a little girl, “Boo” wanders in and they must keep her out of sight and try to get her back home. The comedy duo of Billy Crystal and John Goodman bring on lots of laughs as the antagonists voiced by Steve Buscemi and James Coburn challenge their every move.

This 2001 film from Pixar and Disney won the 2002 BAFTA Award for Best Animated Feature film and the film’s Randy Newman song “If I Didn’t Have You” won both the Academy Award and Grammy Award in 2001.

The Free Coronado Movies on the Bay Series is sponsored by the Port of San Diego Tidelands Activation Program designed to support a vibrant and active waterfront with events that engage the community and inspire visitors to enjoy San Diego Bay. “Monsters Inc” is brought to Coronado through the generous funding of the San Diego Unified Port District. For great movie viewing enjoyment, bring a blanket or beach chair to sit on. Bring a picnic to enjoy prior to the movie. For additional information go to Coronadoarts.com or call (619) 522-7342.
