Last week, Coronado’s Girls’ Golf team played three consecutive matches. Tuesday’s match against La Jolla High School was played away at the La Jolla Country Club. A difficult course to play, La Jolla won the match by less than 20 stokes, 248-229. Junior Crista Izuzquiza shot the lowest score of the Islanders with 40 strokes. The following day, Coronado hosted Serra High School for a complete sweep. Although Coronado did not have their top player, Izuzquiza, team captain Caroline Ward was named Medalist of the Match with a score of 45 strokes. The final score was 273-354.

To conclude the week, the Islanders headed to the Riverwalk Golf Course to play against OLP. “This course was in very poor condition both in its greens and general course conditions,” comments Coach Stuart Gordon. Although Coronado lost in a very close match at 236-230, Izuzquiza shot a score of 38 strokes—only two above par on a tough course.

The team’s current record is nine wins to six losses.

  • Tuesday, September 25 vs. Point Loma High School at Balboa Golf Course @ 3:00 PM
