This is the kind of tip I don’t like sharing, but I owe it to our wonderful readers to keep them up to speed on EVERYTHING CORONADO… A few years back you were able to rent a DVD from VideoLand next to Vons on Orange Avenue. You could also rent DVDs from the Coronado Library, but the library’s selection was very weak to say the least. Well, fastforward (get it?) and now VideoLand is out of business and the local library has multiple copies of the latest releases on DVD. So, here is the tip: You can search for DVDs online and (if available) call the library and have them hold the DVD until they close on the same day. That means, you don’t have to go all the way there just to find out that someone has snatched the last copy of West Wing or Lion King. Here are the simple steps: 1. Search the Coronado Library website for your DVD selection: http://74.62.186.68/search 2. If your movie is available, call 619-522-7390 and ask for the reference desk 3. Tell the reference librarian that you want to reserve a DVD that is available 4. They will confirm it’s in and reserve it for you until the library closes that day 5. Arrive at the library and go to the reference desk (in front of Computer Lab) 6. Give your name and movie title and get the DVD for a week for .50 (what a deal!) Of course, now that the cat is out of the bag, it will be harder to maximize the return of this tip. But, like I said, we have to keep wonderful readers up to speed on EVERYTHING CORONADO… Enjoy!
