Protest March in Coronado

Hundreds of Coronado students, parents and community residents gathered today to raise their voices and march in support of racial equality and justice in our schools. Many students spoke of being subjected to racial slurs and insults from elementary school through high school as they called for change.

Brad Willis brings us Coronado Voices for Change:

In an statement prior to the march, CUSD Superintendent Karl Mueller shared:

Our primary goal is to create safe and supportive schools where every child can thrive. It saddens me deeply that any student has experienced hate or discrimination at any time, and especially so within Coronado Unified School District. I fully support the event planned for Saturday. It is imperative for us to listen and learn in order to initiate change. I am committed to equity for all students. It is time for reflection and action.
