The Coronado men’s basketball team was on a hot streak last week with two wins at home. They played against the Serra Conquistadors on Wednesday, Dec. 4. The Islanders played a fast offensive game with a solid effort on defense to win 75-67. A root of these critical plays came from junior point guard #3 Wayne Mckinney. Since transferring from Lake Oswego, Wayne has played a vital role in Coronado’s quick success. The starting point guard had 30 plus points against the Conquistadors. And on Friday against Mar Vista, he scored 33 points in three quarters, helping with the 75-50 win. Another who stepped up Wednesday was sophomore Luke Chisholm, one of the few sophomores on the varsity team. A young developmental squad could lead to big success in seasons to come.
The Islanders next game is at Carlsbad @ 7 pm, Dec 11.
