Soccer: Lady Islanders Start Season with Two Game Win Streak

The Coronado Islanders girls varsity soccer team won both of their games this past week. On Tuesday the 19th, Coronado beat Hilltop 1-0 and on Thursday the 21st they shut out Olympian 4-0. Sophomore Ella Oden scored the goal on Tuesday and one of the four on Thursday. Sophomore Riley McGrath added two points and junior Julia Hinz also scored.

It was a tough week of practice due to the rainstorm and other sports’ practice time. On Tuesday, the team had two full practices before the game. On Thursday the team portrayed a considerable improvement in how they performed. Riley shared, “the atmosphere changed because we got a stronger sense of how we all play individually. We were able to adapt and play better as a team.” She continued, “I’m really excited for this season! To play with such talented, hardworking girls makes the game so much fun! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this team as the season goes on.”

The next game is at home on Tuesday, December 3 @5:30 vs. La Costa Canyon High School
