Bogdanov’s inspiration was the song, “Sugar Blues” from the movie “Some Like It Hot.” Sponsored by Ketel One Family Vodka, the contest was open to professional mixologists who are currently employed at a Coronado restaurant or bar. As Grand Prize winner, Bodganovs will receive $300, a CIFF trophy for himself and a second trophy for the Hotel Del. The judging panel was comprised of representatives from San Diego’s restaurant community, Ketel One and Coronado residents.

Now in its third year, the Coronado Island Film Festival will showcase films in multiple categories to include Narratives, Documentaries and Shorts. “Sugar Blues” will be served at the Opening “Taste of the Festival” party and the Filmmakers’ Bash at Emerald C Gallery.

Founded in 2016, Coronado Island Film Festival’s mission is to celebrate the magical art of visual storytelling. This year’s festival, to be held over Veterans Day weekend, Nov. 9 – 12, will feature more than 100 movies, panels, parties, and live performances. Passes are on sale at the festival website, www.coronadoislandfilmfestival.com.
