Kids Love Bringing Beloved Pets for Blessings

Pet blessings

Animals came for their blessings by all modes of transportation for the eighth annual Pet Blessings, sponsored by Christ Church and Day School on Thursday, October 4, in the morning and at lunch, in celebration of the Feast of St. Francis, the patron saint of animals and the environment. Pet blessingsChaplain Charlette Preslar read a responsive reading and said a prayer of thanksgiving in the courtyard surrounded by kids, teachers, parents and a host of animals ranging from dogs, bearded dragons, horn worms, and even the stuffed variety. The kids each received an individual Pet Blessing and Certificate for their beloved creatures.

Koba, beloved bearded dragon of Griffin and James Steiner, arrived by bicycle on Dad’s shoulder. Mom Amy said, “This is always such a fun, meaningful, and chaotic event.  Seeing all the kids with their pets is truly special.”
