Following City Council approval, Recreation Services opened Coronado’s Skatepark to scooter use on Friday, July 20. The City invites riders of non-motorized scooters to begin using the facility immediately. The City Council agreed to amend the Municipal Code in April to permit scooters. Scooters and other wheeled devices, such as bicycles, have not been permitted due to the original intent of the facility’s design, and the potential damage and liability from the use of other equipment. The City be making modifications to the facility, which will take about four weeks and begin near fall. Bicycles remain an unpermitted use at Skatepark.
