Coronado Schools Foundation is again partnering with Reiss SAT Seminars to offer a school year program for students who wish to excel at taking the SAT and ACT. Classes will be scheduled to prepare students for the March 10, 2018 and May 5, 2018 SAT test dates, as well as the June 9, 2018 ACT test dates.
An optional ACT class will be available as part of the May SAT class. All classes are conveniently scheduled on Saturday mornings and are held at Coronado High School, 650 D Avenue in Coronado.
- Class dates for the 3/10/18 SAT: 2/3, 2/24, 3/3 (No ACT class)
- Class dates for the 5/5/18 SAT: 4/7, 4/14, 4/21, 4/28 (4/28 is the optional ACT class)
Cost: 3 Session SAT: $199 + $10 Supply Fee
4 Session SAT and ACT Combination: $239 + $10 Supply Fee
The seminar will provide 9 or 12 hours (when including the optional ACT class) of expert instruction to assist your student with his/her test preparation skills. The class size will be limited to 25 students and every student will be given testing materials from the College Board. Students will be given homework assignments to enhance understanding of the concepts covered in class.
The classes review all three areas of the SAT (Reading, Writing, and Mathematics) along with the strategies that optimize each student’s performance on the test. The ACT class adds the Science section that appears on that test. Private instruction is also available for interested students.
The class is taught by Steve Reiss, owner of the Reiss SAT Seminars and the Math Magician. Since 1988, Reiss has taught more than 300 SAT Seminars, including fifteen for the College and Career Center of Coronado High School. In addition to his teaching duties, Reiss has authored, co-authored, and edited 61 test preparation books for Barrons, Workman Publishing, REA, and Peterson/Arco. Reiss is also a member of Mensa, the High IQ Society, which grants membership to the top 2% of SAT test takers. After taking the SAT test prep class in the fall, Christina Frangos’ daughter scored a 1560 on her SAT. “We felt that this SAT class was an unbeatable value,” Frangos states. “The price was among the lowest for comparable classes and the content exceeded our expectations. Time was well-spent in class. Steve was not only knowledgeable about the content of the test, but offered useful strategies that led to our daughter’s success on the SAT.”
Classes are open to students from any school district. Proceeds benefit Coronado Unified School District. Limited scholarship funds are available for Coronado High School students. For more information please call 619-437-8059, ext. 3 or 4. Walk in registration is available at the CSF Offices, 201 Sixth St, Coronado, Monday – Friday from 9am-4pm.
