  • Library’s High-speed Internet:  The City reminds the community about the Coronado Public Library’s high-speed internet, which rolled out late last year. The new broadband is 10 times faster than what existed and will result in a 300 percent cost savings for the city. At 1 gigabit per second, Library patrons have the highest speed broadband in Coronado. The City was accepted into a program last year of the California State Library to bring high-speed broadband to all of the state’s public libraries. Through the nonprofit Corporation for Education Network Initiatives in California, or CENIC, the Library is connected to the super computer at the University of California, San Diego, and a high-capacity, 3,800-mile fiber optic network. Coronado was one of the first to offer this 21st century digital resource to its community.

  • Traffic Volumes in Coronado:  The California Department of Transportation provides traffic volume information to the City from two permanent count stations located west of the San Diego-Coronado Bridge and near the Naval Amphibious Base along the Silver Strand. The hour-by-hour counts are used by the City to determine peak hour volumes, average daily traffic for both weekdays and weekends, trends and anomalies. The following graphs represent the traffic volumes into and out of Coronado via the bridge and the Silver Strand for June and July 2016.
