To learn how to cook or to improve your cooking techniques, check out the adult cooking classes that the Coronado Recreation Department is offering this starting in September.
New this Fall and Winter are Cooking, Nutrition and Weight Management Classes. Taught by a certified nutritionist, classes include: Kids Love Veggies on September 6th, Delicious Weight Management on September 27th, Fast Healthy Family Cooking on October 11th and Healthy Eating 101 on January 10, 17, and 24th. By attending these classes on Tuesdays from 10:30am-12:30pm, participants will come home with food, recipes and other resources to encourage healthier eating for the whole family.
New with the Evening Adult Cooking Classes this Fall and Winter are wine pairings and beer tastings. These classes on Wednesdays from 6:00-8:00pm each follow a theme including Paella and Spanish Wines on September 7th; Hearty Soups and Stews with Wine and Beer on October 12; Tailgating Favorites with a Tasting on October 26; Thanksgiving Appetizers and Sides on November 16; New Year’s Brunch on December 14 and Super Bowl Party on January 25.
If you work out in the morning or are looking to stock your freezer with nutritious home-made dishes, then sign up for the Make and Take Meals Class on Mondays at the community center. Each class starts with a snack at 10:30am to re-energize after exercising. Then you will prepare a dish until 12:00pm to take home for dinner that night or for a fast meal after a hectic day. Also, nutrition and dietary restrictions for good health will be addressed.
For the perfect recipe of fresh ingredients, a fantastic view at the Club Room in Glorietta Bay Park and inspiring adults check out the Daytime Cooking Class on Fridays. From 10:00am-1:00pm these classes will tackle everything from the basics of cooking to complex recipes. Classes will be held on September 9 and 16 and on January 13 and 20.
Additionally the Recreation Department is hosting Adult and Child Holiday Cooking Classes so parents or grandparents can cook with their children (ages 5 and older). Â On Sunday, October 23rd from 1:00-4:00pm is the Goblin and Ghoul Gourmet Class to prepare Halloween Delicacies, and on Saturday, December 3rd is the Cookie Exchange from 1:00-4:00pm for lots of Christmas Baking.
