The 10th annual SUPER SEAL and SEAL Sprint race events will be held on Sunday, March 20, along State Route 75. This is one of 14 major special events the City Council approves every year. Event organizers expect up to 1,000 participants.
- Both swim-bike-run events cover a course along the Silver Strand.
- The open-ocean swim starts at 6:45 a.m.
- State Route 75 will be open to vehicle traffic at a reduced speed, and some lanes will be closed until about noon.
- The Bayshore Bikeway will be closed in the morning.
- The parking lot at Silver Strand State Beach will close at 6:30 a.m.
Event organizers have mailed notification letters to those along State Route 75 impacted by the event. Proceeds go to the Navy SEAL Foundation, the Optimists Club of Coronado and the Islander Sports Foundation.
