4 men BASE jump off Coronado bridge

Four thrill seekers who used parachutes to jump off the San Diego-Coronado Bridge Wednesday night had the misfortune to do it right in front of a San Diego police officer.

By the time they hit the water some 200 feet below, a police helicopter was overhead and shooting video of them climbing into a waiting 33-foot boat.

And as they pulled into Glorietta Bay, a Harbor Police Department patrol boat was there to pull alongside them.

“We had everything in place to catch these guys,” said San Diego police Lt. Scott Wahl. “It was good luck on our part and bad luck on their part.”
