Coronado Scribes Poetry and Prose Weekly Feature: Santana Medley by Karen King

We, the Coronado Scribes, consist of both professional and amateur writers. We have in common a desire to learn, by sharing our efforts and listening to other writers. We hold pressure-less sessions every Wednesday, at the Coronado Library conference room, starting at 1:30. Often we have guests who wish to just listen. They are welcome, and so are you. Each week on eCoronado, we feature a different piece of prose or poetry produced by one of our writers. Please feel free to comment or ask

Santana Medley

A Gazebo of Sound

Electric vibes

Couples in the groove

Samba on sun splashed brick

Guitars in harmony

Fingers flying up and down the neck

Up and down my spine

Higher and higher, faster

Reach out to the harbor

Drift on the late summer breeze

Sailboats rock it, gulls wing it

Rhythm transcends

Everywhere there’s dancing

Santana, samba, bongos, steady, steamy

Permeates, pulsates

Guitar riff so familiar,

Yet the title eludes

… Something that ends in “Como Va”

Anyone?
