Although there are undoubtedly a number of ideal beach days yet to come this year, fall is just around the corner, and with it comes a virtual cornucopia of annual autumn events in Coronado. Bookmark this handy list so you don’t miss a thing!

13 – 14 | Art Walk A free two-day juried art show featuring the works of over 100 artists, live music and interactive art activities for all ages. Enjoy the works of over artists from around the country during this year’s Art Walk at the Coronado Ferry Landing on Saturday and Sunday, September 13 and 14. The Art Walk is one of the largest, annual events in Coronado, and over 10,000 people enjoyed last year’s event. Musical entertainment and hands-on art activities will be available for both children and adults from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Coronado Art Walk is a major fundraiser for the Coronado Historical Association. 20 – 21 | Coronado Speed Festival Fleet Week’s flagship event is the Coronado Speed Festival, a.k.a “The Race at the Base,” and 2014 promises a full weekend of action-packed high-octane activities and family fun, Saturday and Sunday, September 20-21. The 17th annual contest celebrates the 50th anniversary of the great American automotive icon, the Ford Mustang. All are invited as NASNI throws its gates open wide – an unprecedented opportunity to visit a working U.S. Navy base at the Navy Open House, both days, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Coronado Speed Festival features roaring auto races on a live U.S. Navy runway, flyovers, naval ship and air demonstrations, ship tours and family fun for all ages. 21 | Pet Parade and Chili Cookoff Plan on a hot time in Coronado, on Sunday, September 21st with pets & chili cooks competing for attention at the 3rd Annual Coronado Pet Parade & Chili Cook Off, sponsored by the Coronado Real Estate Association and the City of Coronado. Aspiring and professional chili chefs are being invited to submit recipes and samples of their fiery concoctions for review at the event by a panel of local judges. Pet owners of all ages can also compete for awards by entering their pets in the five different categories, Most Handsome, Prettiest Female, Most Beautiful Rescue Pet, Best Costume & Most Gorgeous Senior (12 years & older). 26 – 28 | Oktoberfest Beer lovers can head to Hotel del Coronado Friday, September 26 to Sunday, September 28, 2014 for Oktoberfest. Experience a Bavarian-style beer garden on the Sun Deck with authentic food such as bratwurst with sauerkraut, chicken schnitzel, and Munich-style pretzels from San Diego Pretzel, and select specialty beers from breweries such as Paulaner and Karl Strauss. Guests will also enjoy traditional entertainment including daily ceremonial keg tapping and live musical performances. Admission is free, food and drink purchased a la carte. 15 | Taste of Coronado The Coronado Junior Woman’s Club presents,The 4th Annual “A Taste of Coronado, Island fare in the Ocean air” taking place on Wednesday Oct 15th 2014 from 5:00- 9:00 pm. Spend a night indulging your senses and enjoying amazing bites prepared by our local chefs. 18 | Sea + Food On Saturday October 18, enjoy a day of food and wine on The Del’s beachfront Windsor Lawn. From 2 to 5 p.m., chefs will be preparing delicious, fresh seafood dishes at interactive stations throughout the event including Lil’ Del BBQ, smoked oysters, a raw bar with sashimi and a clam bake station. Craft beer, wines and spirit tastings are available with a portion of the proceeds going to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation to benefit childhood cancer. 25 | Hallo-wine & Spirits Party Celebrate Halloween at San Diego’s famous haunted hotel with the 5th annual, adults-only, “Hallo-wine and Spirits” party on Saturday, October 25. From 7-9 p.m., guests will enjoy a dinner reception with grown-up trick-or-treating, wine tasting and delicious eats. Then from 9 p.m.-12 a.m., the party heads to the historic Crown Room for dessert, drinks, dancing and costume contest. Tickets are $125 per person; fees increase after October 1. 26 | URT Spook The 4th Annual URT SPOOK is a night time free surf; URT provides a big light tower and generator to light up the ocean, giving surfers and sepctators a unique night time surfing experience. 31 | Downtown Goes Ghostly It is time again for witches and ghosts to wander throughout the central downtown. Coronado MainStreet sponsors the popular Downtown Goes Ghostly each Halloween.
