“History of U.S. Navy SEALs in Coronado” Exhibit Opens May 2 at Museum of History & Art

Coronado was the birthplace of Navy SEALs and is still, today, a center of SEAL operations. The Coronado Museum of History & Art presents the real-life history of SEALs in Coronado.

Through photographs, vivid chronological displays of memorabilia and actual equipment used in special operations—past and present—visitors will discover how the SEALs and Coronado have grown up together.

This exhibit is part of a larger exhibition organized by the San Diego History Center in Balboa Park, which involves 10 different museums around the County focusing on the military’s influence on this region. Every resident and visitor will want to experience PRESIDIO to PACIFIC POWERHOUSE: How the Military Shaped San Diego. Explore the entire exhibition; visit all 10 sites with a souvenir “Tour-of-Duty Passport,” which can be stamped at each location. Exhibit will run through January 2015.

Admission to the Museum of History & Art is $5 for adults; $3 for seniors (65 and over); free for children (16 and under). Admission for CHA members (and accompanied guests) and active-duty military (and their families) is also free when I.D. is presented. The Navy SEAL Foundation will receive 10% of admission proceeds.

The Navy SEAL Foundation was formed to support the U.S. Navy SEALs, the associated Special Warfare Combatant-Craft Crewmen and Naval Special Warfare, (NSW) support personnel, as well as their spouses and children.
