The reemergence of the Miss Coronado Pageant is largely due to the efforts of pageant Director, Marty Brooks. After a five year hiatus, the pageant was held in May 2013 to celebrate 50 years of Miss Coronado.
This year the event is set for Saturday, March 15 at 4p.m. The venue will be the beautiful CHS Performing Arts Center located at 650 D Avenue in Coronado.
Young women interested in applying to participate in the Miss Coronado Teen or Miss Coronado pageant can stop in to get an application from the following businesses located in Coronado:
Pretty Please Fashions, 961 Orange Avenue
Coronado Library, 640 Orange Avenue
Coronado Community Center, 1845 Strand Way
Chamber of Commerce, 1125 10th Street
Historical Association, 1100 Orange Avenue
Rite Aid, 836 Orange Avenue
OR visit the website at www.MissCoronado.com. There are also some great pictures, provided by the Coronado Historical Association, of past pageant winners that are fun to peruse.
Director Marty Brooks will tell you that many a news anchor, actress, model, or celebrity has gotten her start in the pageant world. It is an opportunity to make friends and polish your presentation skills. The winners earn the responsibility and honor of representing our island town. Miss Teen Coronado Taylor Nelson was Top 10 at the Miss California Teen USA pageant held January 4, 2014 and is modeling too. Miss Coronado Dana Hutchison won a coveted spot with the Disney Casting Company out of 3,000 applicants.
The pageant world may open many doors, but above all will be an enjoyable experience you can carry with you for the rest of your life.
In addition to crowning a new Miss Coronado Teen and Miss Coronado, there are additional categories for contestants of all ages: Mrs. Coronado, Young Miss Coronado, Petite Miss Coronado, Little Miss and Mister Coronado.
