Naval Aviator/ Historical Thriller Author To Speak at CHA ‘Wine & Lecture’ event

Retired naval aviator combat veteran, defense industry executive and now author, Marc Liebman of North Texas will be the next guest speaker at the Coronado Historical Association’s popular Wine & Lecture series, on Friday, January 24, at 5:30 p.m.

Not only an experienced writer but also a naval aviator combat veteran of both Vietnam and Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Liebman has logged just under 6,000 hours as pilot-in-command/co-pilot of tactical military, civilian fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft. Retiring as a Captain, after 24 years in the U.S. Navy and a career that took him all over the world, he worked as a CEO in the defense and aerospace manufacturing sector, then as a magazine editor and copywriter before turning to fiction writing.

Liebman has authored two action-packed novels, one involving helicopter exploits in Vietnam, while the other centers on international espionage, terrorism and naval aviation. His first novel, Big Mother 40, loosely based on his own experiences flying helicopters during the Vietnam War, was released last year. Render Harmless, set in East and West Germany in the mid-1970s, is due out in February 2014.

Part of his talk will touch on how to make the transition from business to a new career as an author of fiction. Program begins in the CHA Lecture Hall (adjacent to the Museum of History & Art, 1100 Orange Avenue) at 5:30 p.m., with seating on a first-come, first-served basis. Lecture is free; wine is $5/glass.
