Help a Sixth Grader Attend Camp–CMS Needs Your Help

Sixth Grade Camp at the San Diego Outdoor Education Facility to be held in October

CMS sixth graders will be attending the annual San Diego County Outdoor Education Camp at Camp Cuyamaca from October 15– October 19. This is an intense week-long program which allows our children to do a variety of hands-on activities in the mountains under the supervision of the sixth grade teachers and the Camp Cuyamaca staff.

The cost for each child to attend is $280.00. While many of our children’s families are able to meet this financial requirement, others find that part or all of this fee is a significant burden. No child will be denied participation in the Outdoor Education Camp because of financial need. Every child who wants to attend will be given the opportunity.

Every year in order to make camp a reality for all, we need the help of our community members. Interested individuals or companies are invited to “Adopt a Camper.” Any donations that are made will be greatly appreciated. Checks should be made payable to Coronado Middle School.

If you would like any further information about the San Diego County Outdoor Education Camp (www.sdcoe.k12.ca.us./outdoored ), please feel free to call our school secretary Tammie Warlick at Coronado Middle School (522-8921, ext. 3097).

We appreciate your support of this unique and memorable educational experience for our sixth graders.

P.S. Our daughter LOVED this experience even though she had to attend wearing a boot due to a broken right leg. She didn’t get to do all the things she could have without the boot, but still talks about the stories she heard and the things they did. Simply being in the great outdoors is a wonderful experience. Camp Cuyamaca holds an open house and we took advantage of it. We were able to see where the students sleep, eat, recreate and learn. Overall this was a superb experience.
