Tomorrow, Thursday, September 6, 2012, Coronado High School Athletics, in association with the Islander Sports Foundation, will honor the six teams from last year who earned the title CIF Champions! Though a traditional showing of school pride in several high schools and colleges, this will be the first for our sports program. In the past, the banners have been raised in an empty, quiet gym. Let’s honor our scholar athletes the right way.
COME JOIN THE FUN!
The inaugural raising of the banners celebration will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cook out in the high school quad. The raising of the banners will follow in the Blumenthal Gym. Last year was an amazing one for the Islander sports program. In addition to the six CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) championships, several Islander sports earned league champion titles. League Champions to be honored include: Boys’ Cross Country, Boys’ Water Polo, Girls’ Basketball, Boys’ Basketball, Girls’ Soccer, Boys’ Soccer, Girls’ Lacrosse, Boys’ Lacrosse, and Boys’ Golf.
2011-2012 CIF Champion banners will be raised for Boys’ Lacrosse, Girls’ Lacrosse, Boys’ Soccer, Girls’ Soccer, Boys’ Water Polo and Girls’ Cross Country. Both of the soccer teams and the lacrosse teams were repeat champions!
Visit the Islander Sports Foundation website (ISF) to buy your advance tickets or pay $5 at the door. Price includes the BBQ, music, raffles, contests, speakers and more! This is a fantastic way to show your ISLANDER PRIDE and help kick of the 100th anniversary of Coronado High School.
