On Monday of this week I parked in a metered spot near the corner of Orange Ave and 9th with every intention of dropping a dime in the meter, dashing over to Which Wich, grabbing my sandwich to go and heading back to the car with plenty of time. I put my car in park, looked at the red flag reading “expired” and mentally told myself I needed to grab a dime out of my bag. Then, waiting for a break in traffic, I got out of my car and completely forgot to feed the meter!
Once I got to Which Wich and placed my order I decided to fill out the survey at the bottom of the receipt. After all, who wouldn’t want a FREE cookie! While I waited for them to bake my cookie fresh I started eating my sandwich (I was too hungry to wait!). All this time completely forgetting my meter was screaming “GIVE ME A TICKET!” to whoever walked by.
About 25 minutes later I walked the short block back to my car and my stomach lurched when I saw the meter as I approached. But this time it was green. One hour and forty four minutes remained on the meter.
So THANK YOU to whoever decided to save me from a ticket on Monday. Now, when I walk down Orange Ave I will be looking for my chance to help someone else in the same way I was.
