Coronado Bike Rodeo & Safe Cycling Festival May 18

Bicycle education is more than a shove down the driveway.

The Coronado Optimist Club and Coronado Recreation Department along with Holland’s Bike Store and The Bicycle Advisory Committee is sponsoring a Bicycle Rodeo and Safe Cycling Festival. A bicycle skills fun event designed to teach bicyclists the skills they need to be safer cyclists. Certified cycling instructors will be on hand from The San Diego County Bicycle Coalition to run the obstacles course and Rodeo portion of the event.

The Festival will be held Saturday May 18, 2-4 along Strand Way(between yacht club and Boat House . Bicyclists Kindergarten through Middle School and their parents are invited to attend. This event is made up of a series of stations dealing with important aspects of safe cycling. Participants will learn about bike safety and practice bicycle-handling skills that will increase their enjoyment of bicycling and could someday save their lives. Parents are encouraged to participate. Holland’s Bikes will have a certified Bike mechanic on hand to demonstrate basic bike repairs throughout the event.


Help discourage bike theft by getting your bikes registered with the Police! The CPD will be on hand to register bikes and review proper locking techniques.

Come out and visit with Coronado Pedego to learn about the new electric assisted bikes you see around town.

All participants will be eligible for great raffle prizes and a certificate of completion.
