Coronado Locals Have a Song on iTunes

Two Coronado Singers and Surf’s Up Studios are creating a Coronado based music video.

The song San Diego Dogs, sung by two Coronado teens was released on iTunes. To the tune of Katy Perry’s California Gurls, the song lyrics remind everyone to get your next dog from a local shelter.

Working with the American Humane Association, the proceeds from the iTunes single and the music video go to animal shelters. Now, creating a music video for the song, Surf’s Up Studios along with the American Humane Association hopes to bring awareness about dog adoption and gain support through donations to local shelters.

The SURF-ice dog, Ricochet- a golden retriever that helps physically-challenged you surf on custom boards will be in the video. Just winning the Hero Dog Award from Betty White on Hallmark TV Special, Ricochet will be starring in the video along with a few championship surfing dogs from the So Cal. Surf Dog Association.

The human stars in the video will be two Coronado local teen singing stars, Lia Marie Johnson and Roxy King. The last video produced and directed by Surf’s Up Studios was Lia singing Dido’s “White Flag.” Check out all the shots of Coronado in the video!

The owner of Surf’s Up Studios, Tony Perri, is a Coronado local that fell in love with the island while shooting the “White Flag” video.

“After that [shooting “White Flag”] I only went home to get my stuff and then I moved to Coronado,” said Perri.

Originally from New York, Perri went to Cal State Chico, grad school at SDSU, and then began working as a TV Anchor.

Then, hired by Micheal Eisner, Perri was the director and producer for Disney’s in-house TV news division, the first in-house news in the country.

Perri eventually started his own company, Surf’s Up Studios, and has Disney as his client as well as Warner Brothers, CNN and Fox News for mostly broadcast television work.

Perri also makes his own films. Serotonin Rising, a film that combines documentary interviews with a dramatic love story to show that doing good deeds for others makes you a happy and healthier person, was produced by Perri.

Perri loves shooting in Coronado because he says the light is almost always perfect.
