On Sunday, September 11th, 2011, the 33rd Annual SUPERFROG Triathlon will be held in Coronado and Imperial Beach. Approximately 600 triathletes will be competing in the 1.2 mile ocean swim, a 56 mile bike up and down the Silver Strand, and a 13.1 mile run on the beach in and around the SEAL Training Center (Elephant Cage) in Imperial Beach.
Designed by Navy SEALs, the SUPERFROG is the first and longest running long distance triathlon. Honoring the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, the 33rd SUPERFROG Triathlon will also honor will honor recent fallen Navy SEALs and NSW personnel who gave their lives in combat and training in support of the global war on terrorism, including Medal of Honor recipients LT Mike Murphy and Petty Officer Mike Monsoor. There will also be a tribute to San Diego’s favorite triathlete, the legendary Barbara Warren.
The SUPERFROG Triathlon benefits the Navy SEAL Foundation, The Coronado Optimists, and the Islander Sports Foundation.
