Twenty little slices of heaven are now available to military troops at Coronado Naval Base, where the Navy this weekend opened 20 new almost-beachfront cottages as nightly vacation rentals.
It’s a first for a Coronado Navy base, though the Marines at Camp Pendleton have offered beach rentals to service members and retirees for several years.
The Coronado units quietly opened to vacationers Friday, but reservations are already full through August, said Brandon Workman, installation project director for the Navy’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation program.
