Coronado – September 15th – “Change is good”, says Kate Shallan, chair for the
Coronado Schools Foundation signature fundraising Extravaganza, Aim for the Stars
Auction
, to be held in the Hotel Del’s Oceanfront Ballroom on Saturday November 13
from 6-9 pm. “We have re-imagined this annual event into a high energy, fun auction
party featuring gourmet food stations highlighting the best the Del’s culinary team has to
offer. The evening has been streamlined to minimize expenses, maximize entertainment
value, and focus on the ultimate goal of returning as much money as possible to our
public schools. By lowering the ticket price to $100 per person, we are hoping for an
early sell out.”

In an effort to make it easier for parents of K-6 grade children to attend, for the first
time ever, a simultaneous event: “We are the Stars- a Parents’ Night Out”, will be held at
the Coronado Community Center. Parents will be able to drop off their youngsters at 5:30
pm and pick them up after the grownup event by 9:30 pm. The staff at the Community
Center will provide a pizza dinner, fun and games so the children can have their own
party for just $35/child. Registration for the kid’s party is currently available through the
Community Center website: (www.coronado.ca.us) and by phone (619) 522-7342.
“One of the most exciting aspects of planning this event has been working with
Auctioneer Bill Menish to create a completely unique event tailored to CSF’s
fundraising goals as well the anticipated wishes of our guests,” noted Executive
Directory Patty Cowan. “With an emphasis at the event on creative live auction
packages designed to suit every budget, Menish Productions has created a global online
auction presence to allow grandparents, friends and folks that just love an on-line auction
to bid virtually in real time on November 13th on the amazing array of live auction
packages that our guests will be bidding on.”

“Hawaii seems to be that unique place that makes everyone say ‘ahhh-loha'”, enthuses
Susan Ceci, CSF Development Coordinator, so when the Grand Wailea Resort and Spa
on Maui generously donated a 5 day/4 night stay in their prestigious Napua Towers, we
decided to offer it to everyone as our Opportunity Drawing prize.” $1000 cash will be
included to be used for airfare or anything the winner desires. Opportunity Drawing
Tickets are available for $25 for 1; $100 for 5; and $250 for 15 and may be purchased
at the CSF Website at www.csfkids.org .

“We know that the success of this year’s event is more crucial than ever before so we
may direct as many dollars to our schools as possible in this difficult year of extreme
funding cuts by Sacramento”, says Terry Farrelly, CSF Board President. “The Aim for
the Stars Auction Team has come up with a way to provide a low cost/high yield event to
bring our community together for the good of all the children who attend our public
schools.”

Tickets for the event and opportunity drawing tickets are currently available at the CSF
website (www.csfkids.org ) or by phone, (619) 437-8059, ext 1, 2 or 3. Purchase by
October 1st ($100 minimum) to automatically enter your name in a drawing to receive
four concert tickets and Meet Shakira at her concert at the Sports Arena on October
15th! Visit the CSF website for details.
