CHS Girls Soccer Win 5-0 Over Sierra Vista (So. California Regional First Round)

Sierra Vista goalkeeper Alyssa Lozano played a spectacular game on the road for the eighth-seeded Dons in their loss to the top-seeded Islanders, ranked fifth in the state and eighth in the nation on ESPN’s Fab 50 Poll.

Just a few days after Lozano helped the Dons capture the CIF-SS Division 7 title by defeating California Academy of Math and Science 4-3 in penalty kicks after a 0-0 tie in regulation and two sudden-death overtimes, she helped keep powerful Coronado in check until suffering an injury with less than 10 minutes to play, and left the game.

Sierra Vista coach Steve Jimenez said the Dons trailed just 1-0 before Lozano left, and Coronado scored four goals in the final 10 minutes to open it up. Otherwise, the Dons hung tough in their first trip to the regional playoffs.

Olivia Lillegraven, Annie Lovering, Avery Woodhouse, Ali Culora and Demi Waitley scored for the Islanders, who improved to 22-1-3, while the Dons finished 24-4-1.
