
Editor’s Note: Way to go Lady Islanders!
Coronado High coach Kiko Medina was equally excited and nervous during the final minutes of yesterday’s Division III soccer championship.
His team was about to defeat La Jolla for the title, but there was a Gatorade cooler nearby, and his players were conspiring to dump its remnants on him in celebration.
“I heard them, and I was like, Oh no,’?” Medina said. “I had to put my jacket back on.”
Medina was spared as the players rushed the field following the Islanders’ 2-0 win over the Vikings on a chilly night at Valhalla High.
