Naval Base Coronado Sailors received toys during the 2009 Toys for OUR kids drive

NAVAL BASE CORONADO, Calif., — More than 120 Naval Base Coronado (NBC) Sailors received toys during a toy drive Dec. 21 at the Defense Mapping Agency Auditorium aboard Naval Air Station North Island. Mr. Jim Massey, a Retired Marine, coordinated the toy drive. Massey, 78, said he dedicates his entire year to preparing for the toy drive. Massey said he will go to great lengths to ensure that he has enough toys to give away at the toy drive and has done so for approximately the last 12 years. “There were so many grateful Sailors and it feels great to help them,” said Aviation Boatswains Mate Handler Airman Jessica Orduna, one of the events volunteers from NBC’s Color Guard Office. Massey met Sailors at the door and asked them, “Will this help your family have a better Christmas?” The Sailors unanimous response was that it would indeed help there family have a better Christmas.
