Vigil Today For Mom Killed In Front Of Kids

CORONADO, Calif. — A public vigil will be held in Coronado Wednesday in memory of a woman who was strangled, allegedly by her boyfriend, soon after he was bailed out of jail in connection with a previous incident of domestic violence against her. Christina Jones, 31, was killed in her Golden Hill apartment Dec. 17 in front of her 4- and 17-month-old children. The children’s father, Melvin Carter, 29, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. The night of the slaying, the couple was arguing about Carter visiting the children, said San Diego police. The victim’s cousin was present at the time of the dispute and made an emergency call after seeing Carter threaten Jones with a knife and frying pan, police said. Wednesday’s vigil will be held at Coronado Beach at 4:15 p.m. Source: 10NEWS.com
