Two protests disrupted the San Diego Section baseball playoffs Monday. Coronado High, the top seed in Division IV, was eliminated from postseason play. The Islanders (18-14) were disqualified for using an ineligible player. The Coronado player had participated in a Memorial Day Pony League baseball tournament, Assistant Commissioner Bill McLaughlin said. Athletes are not allowed to play for teams other than their high school team during the season. Coronado, which was 3-1 in the double-elimination tournament, had beaten Mater Dei Catholic and Mountain Empire in playoff games. The Islanders forfeited both contests.
