Final Training Session Cancelled Red Bull Air Race World Champion Hannes Arch ready for Qualifying on Saturday The final training session ahead of Qualifying for the second stop of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship 2009 was hampered by poor weather on Friday. Heavy clouds hanging over San Diego Bay forced the race organisers to cancel the final training session on several occasions as changing conditions made flying too dangerous. SAN DIEGO (USA). Despite being scheduled to start at 10.30, the session’s start time was put back again and again. The situation also made it very difficult for Hannes Arch as he was forced to prepare himselve mentally for the important final training, only to see the start time delayed again due to the persistent cloud. Reigning world champion Hannes Arch knows that he is the man to beat in 2009 after his impressive win at the season opener in Abu Dhabi. The Austrian has been working hard on his race plane to try and squeeze out some extra speed and fuse pilot and machine into one sleek unit as the Air Race approaches its second stop of the season in San Diego. The interest in the current championship leader has been especially high ahead of this race in the USA as Arch used to live in Los Angeles. Qualifying is scheduled for Saturday, with the main race taking place on Sunday.
