Check out this community art project sponsored by the Coronado Cultural Arts Commission and the Coronado High School Visual Arts Department!
A team at CHS student artists (alumni and current students) have designed a five panel art piece to mark the celebration of this once-in-a-lifetime occurrence of our ZIP Code on the calendar. Each panel features a digit of the Coronado ZIP Code with iconic images of Coronado to create a vintage postcard effect. The designs have been drawn on the wood boards in a “paint by numbers” format. The community is invited to paint during the festivities and everyone is welcome to be a contributing artist on this fun project.
The artwork was conceived by the visual art team led by Coronado High School art teacher and alumni Karrie Jackson. Her team of artists are: Gina Aguirre, Alyssa Agarwal, Summer Haddaway, Sokline Peterhans, and Emily.
The Cultural Arts Commission will have all five panels displayed at their 92118 Day booth starting at 3pm. Student artists will be volunteering to engage in assisting the public in completing this fun project. The painting will be completed the day of the celebration and the panels will be returned to the high school for final touches. The Arts Commission will determine a site to recommend to the City Council for temporary display of the panels in our community!
