Trump insulted John McCain about being a POW. A man who had draft deferment for a foot bone spur. At near 70, he hikes well with that foot. He says he had a high draft number in 1972. He is two years older than me. We all got numbers in 1969. Then, why the deferment?
I had the duty at Pearl, but got call in briefing by Admiral McCain, Seventh Fleet. Coral Sea, my carrier, was one of the last carriers on Yankee Station. Despite John being stateside, the Admiral was there to direct the end of the Vietnam War.
Three generations of Navy. DUTY.
