Coronado Woman Bakes / Delivers 35+ Rum Cakes to Coronado Fire Department

Thought this might be a fun picture to share with readers. As background — for many years Councilwoman Patty Schmidt ordered locally baked Rum Cakes and had them delivered to the Firehouse and City Hall around Christmas time. This year Robbins Crehore Kelly (far right in above photo) continued the tradition in Patty’s memory by baking 35+ rum cakes for all the firemen and support staff at the Coronado Fire Department as well as a large cake for staff at City Hall. This Christmas Eve morning the cakes were brought to the firehouse. The fireman thought they were packages for Santa deliveries but to their surprise the festively wrapped packages were for them. In the past a few large cakes were delivered and if you were on shift you enjoyed the delicious rum cake – however, this year everyone gets to enjoy Robbins’ popular Rum Cakes! Robbins Kelly knew Patty Schmidt for over 40 years and they were very close. Robbins served as Patty’s Coronado Council Campaign Finance Chairman. She had baked cakes for Patty to deliver to the firehouse for many years. Patty was very supportive of the restoration of Little Mac. Her memory lives on in the acts of kindness that others do in her name.

Merry Christmas Coronado-style!
