Each week, the City of Coronado City Manager’s Office provides an update that includes information on programs, services and issues within the City, as well as news, project updates and follow-up information when applicable. Featured below are highlights from that update. The entire City Manager’s Weekly Update can be found on the City’s website.
Enforcement on Third and Fourth Streets
On Tuesday, August 12, Coronado Police Officers conducted a saturated patrol on Third and Fourth streets. This heightened enforcement yielded 70 citations, which included four misdemeanor citations, and 25 written warnings. This effort is intended to make drivers aware of the posted speed limit of 25 mph and that the City is enforcing the law.
Deodar Cedar Replacement Trees
The City is in the process of planting new Deodar cedar trees in the Orange Avenue medians. These new cedars replace those that were removed because of their poor condition due to age or disease. The City’s arborist consultant, West Coast Arborists, began digging the holes yesterday for five young cedars and today will plant the trees with the use of a crane. Two trees will be planted in the 700 block, two in the 1000 block and one tree in the 1100 block of Orange. No other Deodar cedars will be planted until this time next year. At that time, the City will remove additional poor performing cedars and replace them with six healthy trees. Please be cautious and drive safely around these and other crews while in Coronado.
